MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn (I used Red Heart retro stripes)
5MM Crochet hook
tapestry needle


SPECIAL STITCHES:
PS: puff stitch - Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over insert hook into same stitch pull up a loop yarn over insert hook into same stitch pull up a loop, yarn over pull through all stitches on hook.



This next part is going to be worked into rows to create the ribbing at the bottom of the hat.

CHAIN 9 
ROW 1: SC in 2nd CH from hook and in each ST across
ROW 2: SC in BACK LOOP ONLY (BLO) across

REPEAT ROW 2, 70 more times, or until desired length is met.


Holding WS together SL along the 8STS to join into a round.

WORKING IN THE ROUND

RND 1: CH 1, SC in each SC around ending on an even number, join with a SL
RND 2: CH 2, DC in each ST around, join with a SL
RND 3: CH 2, DC into the back of the BAR under the ST (see photo) around, joint with a SL
RND 4: CH2, DC in each ST around, join with a SL
RND 5: CH2, DC in each ST around, join with a SL
RND 6: CH3, skip 1st ST, *PS in next ST, CH 1, skip next ST, PS in next ST* REPEAT from * to * around, join with a SL
RND 7: CH2, DC in each ST around, including CH1 ST, joins with a SL
RND 8: CH2, DC in each ST around, join with a SL
RND 9: CH2, DC in the back of the bar below the ST, around, join with a SL
RND 10: CH2, DC in each ST around, join with a SL
RND 11: CH2, DC in each ST around, join with a SL
